A common concept about underarm odor is that it is a direct result of perspiration or sweating. This concept is totally untrue. Sweating is the way of cooling down the body and it works as a skin hydrator as well.

The perspiration trapped in the areas like the underarm and feet usually becomes a main source of this odor. This helps in slowing down the production of bacteria on skin. One should wash armpit again in case one becomes sweaty because of the workout or heat. Drying the underarm thoroughly is also important.

One should deodorant or antiperspirant daily. The production of sweat becomes limited to the use of antiperspirant and it also reduces the chances for odor to occur. The use of deodorant also makes it hard for bacteria to grow over the skin. Those facing such underarm odor problem should wear breathable fabrics. This helps in preventing the moisture produced in the underarm to evaporate. One should also wash clothes regularly as sweaty clothes provide a breeding ground for bacteria. Weaving loose fabrics also help with sweating to minimum level. One should also shave the underarm regularly as hair blocks the evaporation in armpit and allows bacteria to build up more.

There are some other natural remedies to get rid of the underarm odor like applying baking soda in the underarm. This helps in absorbing excess ovals and moisture. One should reapply the baking soda as needed. Drinking plenty of water also helps in keeping the body cool and reduces the chances of sweating, which extremely cause underarm odor. One should also increase the food intake, which contains zinc more. Foods like Lima beans, organic beef, chickpeas and turkey are rich sources of zinc. It is also seen that zinc plays a dramatic role in reducing the body odor. One should also change some eating habits like to avoid eating curry, spicy food, garlic and onion. These foods trigger the underarm odor.
