House Call Doctor – Convenience At Your Comfort Zone

Are you sick and do not want to leave your cozy bed to drive to a doctor? Is the patient too tired to travel to the hospital and wait for the doctor? A house call doctor is a way to solve these problems.

This facility was common in old days. Instead of running to the crowded hospital for emergencies and even to avoid the long wait in front of doctor's clinic, people used to call the doctor to visit home at a scheduled time. It is just like a walking clinic wherein the medical experts walk to your home to take care of you.

It is the best way for those patients who do not want to leave their comfort zone to see a doctor for their illness. Mostly aged patients will prefer their medical routine to be done in their place itself. This facility will help to avoid the long waiting time in the hospital corridors and you can get medical advice in your own place. All you need to do is to make a call and wait for the doctor to reach you.

There are qualified doctors who offer these facilities. The first step is to call a qualified doctor directly (or their office), who offer a house call facility and brief your medical situation and your needs. Next step is to fix an appropriate time, which is both acceptable for the doctor and the patient. Wait for the backup call from your doctor's office just before the scheduled time for further enquiries. The last call from the doctor is to know whether you still need a doctor or just a physician's assistance would be enough. After all the details are given and inquiries are finished, the doctor is ready to come and visit you at your place; at a scheduled time.

A house call is more convenient for aged patients who want their regular checks and basic doctor visit sessions done. They can avoid visiting the hospital more often and can feel much better. Most of the people do not like hospital atmosphere. A house call is the best option for those who are allergic to hospital smell and surroundings.

On the other hand, it is not always advisable to use these facilities for serious medical issues. For example, a patient with a serious injury may require more than what a house call doctor can provide. A basic check-up can be done by the doctor and if required, the patient may be advised to visit the hospital for further medical care.

How Is Life Review Therapy a Way to Bring Transformation?

Sharing memories take you on an adventurous journey that helps you relive the moments of past. The idea of sharing memories has now become a therapy to treat concerns such as depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Life review therapy is a way to achieve a sense of peace or empowerment about one's life. It is often confused by the term reminiscence therapy which is slightly different from it. On one hand, people describe a memory while on the other hand people tell what memory means to them.

This therapy may not be for everyone but helps a certain group of people to look back into their lives with a different perspective. There is no particular theme for the therapy but it usually revolves around childhood, education, friendship, parenthood, working years etc. You may be asked to bring souvenirs including music, photos, letters, possessions, or even family trees that can help you sketch your story with each minute detail and embellishment.

Life review therapy can be done for various purposes such as therapeutic, educational, and informational. Talking about therapeutic, it is useful for the people to dig deeper into their lives and discover the hidden purpose. Older adults suffering from diseases like Dementia, Alzheimer, depression, anxiety or those diagnosed with a terminal condition and are facing the pain of the loss of loved one can be benefited by this therapy. Secondly, Educational purpose; students these days are asked to talk to their parents and grandparents about their past life and experiences that have taught them various lessons in life for a better understanding. Lastly, informational purpose; sharing memories help to carry forward the family traditions and culture to the coming generations.

Life review therapy is related to ego integrity and despair. Some studies revealed that life review interventions promoted ego integrity and enhanced psychological well-being in older people. These studies showed that life reviewed improved personal mean, increased life satisfaction, increased self-esteem, and promote adaptation of older people. In addition, studies also disclosed that life review interventions pretended despair in older people.

On the contrary, people who have had a miserable past may have ill effects of this therapy as it may bring back all the bad memories associated with one's life and take them on to a painful trip. There is a platform that has been working for the well-being of older adults by treating them through life review therapy which they keep conducting on a regular basis individually or in the groups. The advantage of having a group therapy is that you feel light sharing your memories and become strong after listening to other people who might have an entirely different experience. Seniors who would love to share their life experience can do that as well. Because each person has got a story to tell that can empower not only himself but also the person listening to it.

Assessing The Elderly For in Home Needs

There will always come a time for most people to take care of a loved one at home. In the health care world today the shift from hospital and nursing home care is to the private home setting. Increased insurance rates with diminishing confidence and trust in the system is influencing changes in the health care system. There may many incidences where there is no option for home care due to the high level of care needed and the availability of care providers. However, there will be many elderly people that can function at home well with the assistance of either a custodial aide or simply a companion. Identifying the needs of the individual in this situation is critical to the safety and well being of that person.

The first step in isolating the needs of the person need assistance is doing a basic assessment of the person in question. Mental acuity remains as the first and paramount requirement of the assessor. Many elderly people are as alert as the assessor, or appear to be. The appearance of alertness can easily be confabulated by anyone who is trying to appear more alert than they really are. Many people will not tolerate a mental acuity assessment as they do not want to appear mentally failing. Therefore the common denominator used in this assessment is not only applied by the assessor through direct contact but also input from others that are familiar with the individual. Often these others are family members who have been close to the person and can identify changes in mental awareness. If this input is limited the assessor will have to spend more time, and at different hours of the day. Many people that seem aware and alert at 10am, can be disoriented and confused later in the day and at night. Without a recent prior history and input from outside companions and family members an accurate mental awareness assessment could take several days. Assessing the person for appropriateness through out a 24 hour period is truly the only way to properly assess the person. Appropriateness certainly can be calculated by most people that are appropriate. If that sounds confusing, consider the simplicity of the basic exchanges of the activities of daily living. The fact that someone can not see or hear very well does not mean they're not aware and alert. Managing those reduced senses is the priority of the assessor. The limited visual acuity can be assessed not only by asking the person about their vision but spending the time with that person while doing the activities of daily living. Certainly a common sense approach to a problem that may not appear to be a problem until the stove ignites a fire because someone can not see a cloth pot holder sitting next to a red hot burner. Although the visual assessment is fundamentally discovered through trial and error of daily living the elderly seek independence and may not share their poor vision with the assessor.

The mental acuity assessment remains the assessment that takes the most time. It truly can be as convoluted as the world can be confusing. However, time and patience are the tools required to come to a conclusion to help identify the needs of the elderly. How does one assist the confused and elderly to remain independent and in their own surroundings? The mildly confused person may in fact be similar to the pediatric child of 6 to 10 years. They need supervision but maybe not around the clock. Often the elderly are concerned about their friends and contemporaries. Having these people nearby that can visit and assist in the care is a huge plus. Communication is a must and the 'life alert' programs which are easily available can cut into a budget. Although these services are dependable and available in most areas their costs can start about 50.00 / mo. Without prior insurance planning these services are generally self pay and a fixed income is frequently limited. A nearby relative or a friend is equally as good, however a mobile phone would be a must, and pinned on speed dial and carried continuously.

Timed daily visits are critical to help assist the home elderly person, and sometimes at meal times. This basic need may not be that easy to fulfill. Most communities have daily meal delivery programs that are accessed through county senior centers. In advance let me say at one time these were very effective but these programs have taken big hits in funding at all levels. They still exist but unrealistic delays are now an every day occurrence. The frozen TV diner once considered to be a joke often times can deliver safe, economic and nutritional meals. I can not stress enough the importance of meal availability and the safety assessment on its preparation. It is one of the top priorities in the needs of the in home elderly. It may in fact the main reason for most nursing home admissions. This need is critical and should be reassessed with the mental awareness assessment and evaluated frequently.

Another need commonly considered by professionally trained persons is the elimination need. Many elderly people have incontinence issues that may not be repairable through medical or surgical treatments. However, it is not uncommon for a person to attempt repair again and again with little success. Urinary bladder catheters are a very common treatment for the elderly incontinent person. Although relatively basic care is required the urinary catheter is commonly neglected and problems arise via infection and replacement delays. These catheters should be assessed for output flow, urine quality, and cleanliness. Urine quality can be assessed simply by looking at the amount of urine in a 12-24 hour period. The amounts can vary but the standard acceptance is about 30cc / hour [1 oz.]. Less is not uncommon and more is not uncommon. Very little with dark urine is symptomatic of dehydration, and or, poor kidney function. Urine volume and quality discussions can be lengthy, but remember foul smelling and cloudy urine is in need of addressing. Persons with urinary catheters should all be under the care of a physician and problems should be reported in a timely fashion to the physician.

Care of the urinary catheter revolves around keeping it clean, especially where it enters the body. Washing the entire catheter with mild soap and water will help reduce urinary tract infections and allow the care giver to assess the catheters' proper positioning and integrity. The catheter should easily slide in towards the bladder and have restrictions to be removed. An inflated balloon keeps the catheter in place and any pulling or tension on the catheter should be avoided. The changing of the catheter is variable and averaging every 3-4 months per routine catheter is acceptable. However, not all catheters are routine and require more frequent changes, or less. These types of assessments should be made by knowledgeable personnel. Many a urologist will recommend cranberry juice daily to reduce the possibility of infection. It does not hurt to follow this rule, 4-6 ounces / day would be the standard. The care of urinary catheters should be by the direction of the attending physician who may have additional treatments for the management of the catheter. Be sure to check any recommendations and doctors' orders before implementing catheter care. Although cleanliness does not have to be ordered by a physician. Many people will opt for a catheter as avoiding to wear diapers. Long term catheter placement causes the bladder to loose tone and is unilaterally to return to its original tone, reducing its ability to ever return to normal control. The cost reconciliation related to incontinent briefs? Incontinent underwear can run 80-100 $ a month. A catheter is much less but one will be constantly required to maintain a drain system where they go.

The use of incontinent products such as adult diapers and bed pads are common sources for needs in incontinent treatment of the elderly. Maintaining safe and healthy skin with these products takes diligence and common sense, and yes dollars. Assessing urinary incontinence in the alert person can be accomplished fairly accurately by asking the person when their period of high volume is. Does the bladder empty fully? Is there any ability to sense the need to urinate? Does the urine have a foul odor? Are there any discomfort complaints? Urinary incontinence is a frequent occurrence with many elderly people which can be manged with diligence to the time, volume and patient knowledge of existing conditions. Stress incontinence is frequently seen in the elderly female, much more than the male. Laughing, lifting objects, coughing and sneezing may a common cause for stress incontinence. Surgical intervention of the bladder frequently is successful, but like all surgeries may in fact fail or cause additional problems. Many urologist will consider medication and specific exercises applied for the treatment of stress incontinence before considering surgery. Perhaps wearing a lite volume incontinence brief may that part of life one will have to accept and manage the incontinence of urine by remaining as dry and clean as possible. Many briefs of many different quality and prices are available on the market today. Total incontinence of an elderly person can put out as much as 1-2 liters a day of urine. There are new products on the market that can keep the skin dry and still close to a liter of urine. Wellness Briefs claim astronaut technology. Saves money in the long run, but the brief stays on longer. Longer brief times may allow bacteria the chance to grow without nearly monitored and treated. Barrier creams for almost all incontinent persons is highly recommended. Light cleaning with baby wipes before application is a must. The barrier cream should be applied with special attention in the groin grooves as well as between the buttocks and perineal area. This type of skin care is a must and needs to be monitored with increased importance with the diabetic person. The diabetic person will often excrete sugar in the urine and rapidly promote either skin infection or groin rashes. Knowing hourly outputs, which time frame will put out what amount of urine, will help the person and the care giver to allow for a cleaner and drier person. It will also reduce costs. Applying a washable bed-pad at night will help reduce costs, but does not need to keep the person dry. Managing incontinence of urine in the elderly is an ongoing assessment with a focus on volume, time, urine quality and cleanliness.

Fecal incontinence in the elderly is much less seen, but not uncommon. The treatment and management of cleanliness and control is not like urinary incontinence, however, constipation is not an uncommon side effect seen when managing fecal incontinence. If that sounds confusing it means liquid stool may appear to be fecal incontinence but in fact is liquid stool being leaked around impainted stool. This problem should be approached by experienced personnel. Most older people are very bowel elimination conscious and will have a wide assortment of treatments for their bowel elimination routine. Most older people are less active and will have altered bowel patterns that hopefully they themselves have had some success management. The altered mentally aware person will need one to one assessment over several days to make an accurate assessment. The regularity of the bowels is highly variable dependent on activity, medications, oral intake, and priority exposure to laxatives.

The psychological effects of aging and losing independence and perphas financial stability will probably provoke some degree of depression in this person. The degree of this depressive state is certainly variable but often times the more alert and aware person seems more vulnerable. Let by itself to grow within the depressed mind of the elderly depression can take over and create 'the will to die.' I suspect from my own clinical experiences this factor is seen most frequently in long term facilities such as nursing homes. Although also seen in the private setting once the person has made up their mind to die there maybe little you can do to stop that. Keeping a house bound, dependent person happy and healthy seems dependent on close relationships with loved ones visiting on a regular basis. It all may go to the personality and general make up of that person that determines how they'll handle this portion of their life. There are volumes composed by scholars of all sorts to give guidelines and predictions and I would say from first hand experience much thought for this person seems focused on the value of their life past, but also the close ties to friends and family. They need support, at least most commonly.

There will never be enough said for instructions in the assistance of persons in need of nursing and personal assistance. The requirement for good care begins with common sense and the inner belief that the care giver can make a difference in the recipient's life. The creation of a sense of well being comes from the milieu of well being itself. Meaning the care giver has the desire to give good quality care and more importantly garnishes satisfaction from helping and caring for others. Many times family members are generally a good source for this type of care but not always. The cost of professional care comes into play for those that are on a fixed income. Senior Medicare is limited to about three two hours visits per week. These visits can be very effective when properly managed and alternated amongst visits with family visits. The key to success will almost always depend upon proper timing related to the activities of daily living. Especially not meal times. Assisting at mealtimes and the hours of sleep is essential.

Healthy Mandatory Foods Which Need to Be Included in Your Daily Diet

Nutritional needs vary with every age and stage of life. To be fit and healthy, there is a set of foods that are recommended to be consumed on a daily basis. However, the general agenda of nutritional requirements is as follows:

• Daily water consumption
• Variety of nutrition-rich foods and fibers
• Sufficient amount of carbohydrates for an energetic day
• Plenty of proteins to repair and revamp your body cells
• Essential vitamins and minerals to keep your body replenished
• Whole fruits and vegetables which contribute a major part of the above listed

Let's get into the details and nuances of foods that are essential for your body's mechanism:

– Chillies-Yes, you read it right! Chillies are spicy in your food, but they contain a chemical called Capsaicin. It cleans your toxins and mucous and will help fight ulcers too. Anything that's consumed more than the limit is definitely dangerous. Use a chilli or two in your daily recipes.
– Carrots, Beetroots and the colored veggie- “eat the rainbow” is a saying. Eating colored veggie containing flavonoids and carotenes will purify your blood and will add to the fiber account too.
– Berries-All the “berry” categorized fruits such as the Jambu, cherries, grapes etc. add on to your fibers again. Consuming a fruit a day definitely helps to reduce toxins in your body and contains your body fluids perfectly.
– Go green-Including beans, cabbage, spinach and other such green vegetables and replacing your stems and tubers (potato and its family veggie) will help a great deal to keep your body fit. You can even consume a raw salad of these vegetables.
– Milk and ghee-drinking milk daily and a small teaspoon of ghee added to your food stimulates your brain cells, keeps you active and energetic, and adds on to your protein log.
– Water-drink as liberal as you can. No restrictions, no bars, this blessed liquid is most essential to maintain a good body composition.
– Rice or whole wheat-No matter if it is chapatti or rice, do justice to it by consuming a moderate bowl of rice or 3-4 chapatti with more of veggie and salads and fruits to accompany it. Survive more on the side dishes, than the main course by itself.
– Healthy Oils-Consuming at least 2-3 tablespoons of oil in your recipes is mandatory. Note, good sources of fats from olive, canola, soy, corn, sunflower, peanut etc. are good for a serving. Such healthy fats lower your cholesterol, and prevent your heart from sudden attacks.
– Nuts, seeds and tofu-Nuts are an all-in-one source for fibers, vitamins, minerals and proteins. Consuming a tablespoon of mixed nuts and seeds such as the almonds, walnuts, peanuts and hazelnuts are good for your heart and skin. Using tofu instead of paneer, adds on to the flavor of your favorite dishes, and at the same time adds to the proteins instead of fats.

All that being said, cut down on the following:
1. Bad fats
2. Use the salt shaker sparingly
3. Reduce the intake of sugar in your daily coffee / milk
4. Cut down on red meat
5. Say no to processed food
6. White rice, pasta and potatoes are not health-friendly, reduce on them
7. Sugary and aerated drinks do no good to you. Even fruit juices with sugar do not bestow its good qualities on you and adds to your carbs load; take care.

Happy eating, healthy living!

Wound Care Products-Better Dressings for Better Healings

According to a recent WCJB (an ABC affiliate in Florida) news report, chronic wounds affect around 6.5 million patients in the United States. Furthermore, “estimates are that more than 25 billion dollars is spent each year treating patients who wounds resist typical treatments.”

A new white paper titled “Patient-Centered Outcomes in Wound Care” jointly issued by The American College of Wound Healing and Tissue Repair (ACWHTR) and the Angiogenesis Foundation solidifies this financial estimate. It puts a price tag of 20 billion US health care dollars annually on chronic and delayed healing wounds. The issue is so problematic, in fact, that it has led the National Institutes of Health to call human skin wounds “A Major and Snowballing Threat to Public Health and the Economy.”

It is when these wounds become chronic that they become such a drain on individuals' wallets.

The good news is that wounds that are properly dressed and cared for have a much greater likelihood of healing fully and well. And the right wound care products can bring about such effective healing.

It is no wonder then that the “Wall Street Journal” last year devoted an article to the subject. That story, “Treating Wounds-the Holistic Way,” gave a nod to “a new program (at a New York medical center) that aims to prevent small problems from getting out of control.” That aim encompasses a trimecta: “a comprehensive approach that includes preventive screening, early detection and aggressive treatment.”

Vital to achieving that aim are the proper wound care products, of course. And despite the newspaper's example incorporates care from medical professionals, with the consent of their doctors, individuals can care for their healing wounds themselves, at home, between appointments.

An online provider of wound care products gives hurt sufferers access to all the items they need to thoroughly heal. In fact, many of these products are the same ones that were likely used by staff at the hospital or doctor's clinic where they were first treated for their wounds.

Name brands like Aloe Vesta, Sensi-Care, SAF-Cleans, Sure-Cleans, Optipore, DuoDERM, SAF-Gel, AQUACEL, KALTOSTAT, Versiva, CombiDERM, CarboFlex, SurePress and UNNA-FLEX are just some of the trusted companies which products wound sufferers can have delivered direct to their doorstep.

They can also choose from among a wide range of product options to meet all their wound care needs. They will find everything from boots, absorbent padding, compression bandages and odor control dressings to non-adhesive dressings, burn dressings, border dressings and extra thin dressings. They will even be able to purchase gels, wound cleansers, skin barrier sprays, body creams, anti-fungal ointments, bathing cloths, shampoo and body wash. Everything they need to encourage healing of their wounds … all in one convenient shop.

The “Wall Street Journal” article went on to point out that “Studies have shown that getting ahead of wounds before they become dangerous can dramatically improve outcomes.” One of the best ways to stay on top of the problem is to treat wounds in their early stages. Having a supply of quality wound care products at the ready in one's medical cabinet is strictly what encourages early treatment.

Yoga and Meditation

Yoga is an exercise, meditation and life practice that helps you to be closer to the inner self. After doing yoga, many people expand their practice by starting to do meditation. Yoga meditation involves using yoga postures and mantras to clear the mind and meditate for a period of time. Yoga meditation preparation includes a number of procedures that cleanse the mind and focus the body, creating a successful meditation session. Read on to learn how to prepare for yoga meditation.

Meditation is the art of focusing 100% of your attention in one area. The practice comes with a myriad of well-publicized health benefits including increased concentration, decreased anxiety, and a general feeling of happiness.

Although a great number of people try meditation at some point in their lives, a small percentage actually stick with it for the long-term. This is unfortunate, and a possible reason is that many beginners do not begin with a mindset needed to make the practice sustainable.

  1. Choose a convenient time: – Meditation is essentially relaxation time, so it should be done entirely at your convenience. The hours of sunrise and sunset, while nature transitions between day and night, are ideal for the practice.
  2. Choose a quiet place: – Quiet and peaceful surroundings can make the meditation experience more enjoyable and relaxing.
  3. Sit upright in a chair, but not too rigidly, remove your shoes and keep your feet slightly apart. If you can sit comfortably on the floor, do so, with shoes off. Have the palms of both hands open on your knees.
  4. Keep a reliably empty stomach: – A good time to meditate is before having a meal. After food, you might doze off while meditating. However, do not force yourself to meditate when you are very hungry.
  5. Keep your attention where your hand is over your head, then bring the hand back on to your lap. You may repeat step 4 using your left hand, as one hand may be more sensitive than the other.
  6. Feel your body parts . A great practice for beginning meditators is to take notice of the body when a meditative state starts to take hold. Once the mind quiets, put all your attention to the feet and then slowly move your way up the body (include your internal organs). This is very healthy and an indicator that you are on the right path.
  7. Start with a few warm-ups: – A few warm-up or sukshma yoga exercises before sitting to meditate helps improve circulation, removes inertia and restlessness and makes the body feel lighter. You will be able to sit steadily for a longer time.
  8. Take a few deep breaths: – This is again preparation for easy meditation. Deep breathing in and out as well as doing some nadi shodhan pranayama before meditating is always a good idea. This helps to steady the rhythm of the breath and leads the mind in a peaceful meditative state. This helps to steady the rhythm of the breath and leads the mind in a peaceful meditative state.
  9. You will see the difference. A gentle smile through keeps you relaxed, peaceful and enhances your meditation experience.
  10. Slowly open your eyes at the end of your meditation. Become aware of any change you may feel inside your body, or any shift in your attention.

Senior Assisted Living Vs. Home Health Care: Which One Is for Me?

Being unable to keep up with your home or having difficulty with everyday tasks such as taking a shower or getting dressed is frustrating. Realizing you can not do it on your own anymore can be scary; however, you are not alone.

There is no shame in needing and asking for help. That is why senior assisted living programs and home health assistance programs are available. Choosing a senior assisted living or home health care program does not have to be overwhelming. It is important to be informed and aware of all senior health care options. When you have all the facts, it is much easier to make the decision that will best suit your needs.

Home health care allows you to remain in your home while a nurse / aid visits to help you with any daily activities you would normally struggle with on your own. This can mean anything from bathing to administering medicines to preparing meals. Normally, people who choose home health care are more able than people who choose a senior assisted living program. A senior living program combines housing with assistance for everyday life activities.

If you find yourself unsure of which one to choose, it is wise to read the checklist below to help you decide what health care assistance program is right for you.

Mobility – Do you find it difficult or painful to get out of bed in order to begin your daily activities? Do you find it difficult to move around your home? Are you unable to drive or with no reliable transportation to get groceries or go to appointments? It's important to understand that a senior help living community provides reliable transport for any needed trips. Assisted living also provides services such as housework, cleaning, and laundry, so you do not have to worry about your limited mobility.

Personal Care – Are simple tasks such as eating or dressing yourself too difficult due to pain or illness? Can you accomplish some life tasks, but not others? Home care is not 24/7, but it can be arranged to suit your needs at the times you need them. If you are totally unable to take care of yourself or your home, an assisted living program with its 24/7 available assistance might be a better choice.

Medical Issues – Do you suffer from an illness or disease that limits what you can and can not do? Is it hard for you to manage your medication on your own? A home health care nurse / aid can help you administrator medication at your home. An assisted living program can help with any medical treatment required and are on call 24/7.

By knowing the answer to these questions, you will better understand your wants and needs. Talk to your health care provider about these topics, especially if you answered “yes” to any of the questions above. Home health care and senior assisted living programs invest in your safety and satisfaction. There are over 31,000 senior assisted living programs nationwide. You are not alone.

Bacteria to Stay Healthy

The word bacteria may bring to mind unhealthy things. But there are many “stay healthy bacteria” out there, in foods that you should eat everyday. The number of Americans that have autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, eczema and lupus has doubled in recent years. Mayo Clinic research has disclosed easier ways to slash your risk – get enough probiotic bacteria! These good-for-you bugs in your intestines produce well over half of your immune cells so increasing your intake helps keep your immune system healthy.

Ounce for ounce kefir, a fermented milk drink, contains up to ten times more good-for-you bacteria than most yogurts, and it contains 42 different bacteria compared to just two types in most yogurts. When these healthy bugs latch onto the lining of your digestive tract they fuel the growth of healthy immune cells that potentially attack invaders without harming your body tissues. Kefir tastes a lot like yogurt, only more in liquid form. Mix it with fruit in your Nutri-Bullet to make a very healthy drink!

You can further increase your protection with a banana a day! They are one of nature's richest sources of fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), a natural compound that help the probiotics in your system grow and thrive. It has been shown that the more FOS you have in your diet the easier it is for your digestive tract to keep its probiotic levels in good balance, and it is easier for the bugs to produce a flood of healthy immune cells.

Two important vitamins, which can be inexpensively taken in pill form, are zinc and vitamin D. It has been shown that these two supplements can cut your risk of autoimmune disease as much as 45%, by coaxing your immune system cells to attack invaders instead of your body. Aim for 15mg of zinc daily and 2,000 IU of Vitamin D.

Another healthy food for your immune system are unpasteurized fermented vegetables – such as brined pickles and olives, sauerkraut, Korean kimchee and miso. Aim to eat 1/2 cup of whichever you prefer daily and you will increase your defenses against autoimmune disease in as little as five weeks. Fermented vegetables produce lots of Lactobacillus plantarum – a hard to find probiotic that heals the digestive tract lining, encouraging it to produce only healthy immune cells. Make sure you are eating unpasteurized fermented vegetables because heat destroys delicate probiotics.

There is an OTC probiotic called Saccharomyces boulardii that activates the good genes in your digestive system and stops the ones that raise your risk of autoimmune disease. The best way to get enough is with a supplement you can find in health food stores and whole foods stores. Check with your doctor before taking this, especially if you are on other medication.

And my favorite, confirmation that four to seven drinks per week of your favorite alcoholic beverage can reduce your risk of rheumatoid arthritis more than 50% according to a recent Swedish study. The drink could be wine, beer or spirits. Just remember four to seven per week, not per day!

People have misconceptions about natural medicine and have been told by doctors and the pharmaceutical companies for years it does not work. But in reality it does work. Medicine today is made from different plants, fruits, trees, etc., and pharmaceutical companies have to alter the natural compounds by adding synthetic (not natural) compounds so they can patent them to sell. That is why you have side effects! A whole pure natural product has all the compounds in them so there are no side effects.

Offering Improved Bedside Care

Jogging the emotional, physical, and other aspects of bedside care is not always easy, but addressing all aspects of health and happiness are important to good care. The following is a look at tip for improved bed side care:

1. Prepare yourself. While bedside care is about the bedridden individual, the caregiver needs a clear understanding of the commitment they are making. It is a commitment of not just time, but energy, and emotion. Bedridden individuals are often frustrated by their total reliance, and rather than show gratitude for the care they receive, they can be bellegerent. This can be emotionally challenging and physically exhausting for the caregiver. Prepare yourself to handle all sides of the care, and you will find yourself offering a greater level of care as a result.

2. Address the emotional and mental state of the individual in your care. Just as you need to prepare yourself mentally, it is important to take the time to address the mental needs of the person for what you are caring. Often these individuals suffer from depression, loneliness, and hopelessness. Taking time to understand their needs, not just the physical ones, can go a long way to improving care. Take time to talk with them, help them feel needed and entertained.

3. Do not be afraid to get some help. Bed side care is a lot of work, often more than a single person can handle on their own while juggling their own lives and families. Look to local hospitice care, meal delivery companies, and other resources to help you manage and care for your loved ones, especially in areas you may be ill-equipped to manage. Often care-givers are not professional nurses, but unpaid family members sacrificing time and means to help their loved ones. There are resources available to you to help learn how to do things like administrator medicines, fluids, and injections, and help to lighten the load of care.

4. Use the right tools. The resources can be a big help, and the right tools can be just as much, or more. For example, a no rinse body wash can mean being able to clean a loved one without leaving the bed. Look for hair washers, bed caddies, and other useful tools that can help make care easier. A bedside organizer can help keep things they need within reach. An inflatable hair washer can help you keep them clean and fresh without having to move them. A bed caddy can help them to adjust themselves. Absorbent products and other bathroom assistance products can mean less laundry, fewer trips in and out of bed, and increased comfort. The right devices are essential to improved bed side care. Look at available daily living aids and bathroom assistance products to find what works best for you.

5. Consider physical comfort. Care such as nutrition and hygiene are key, but so is comfort. Consider investing in a hospital bed for improved comfort, as they are easy to adjust. Consider pillow, and inflatable for support. Keep your loved one warm, and comfortable, and it will be much easier for them to be happy.

The Sound Mind Makes the Sound Body

It would be of no novelty to say that millions of women all over the world are concerned with being beautiful. All the representatives of the fair sex are ready to spend huge amounts of money on surgery, personal trainers and nutritionists, special underwear, which is provided to shape the body up and, of course, on the king of make-believe beauty – the Makeup . But how hard you try, you can not fight the fact that you only look good when you feel good. Have you ever noticed that a happy girl wearing jeans and sneakers draws more attention to herself in a bar than a tired one with perfect hair and makeup? This certainly happens for a reason. And it's what's inside of your body that you have to reserve. And if you introduce some healthy habits into your daily routine, you might not need all the things mentioned above after all as these habits will help you to get rid of panda eyes forever in a natural way.

So, do you have breakfast every day? Do you usually take the stairs? Even the smallest things impact our health and then the way we look. Let's see what routines not only can make us more attractive, but also maintain our beauty for years.
For starters, it's essential always to get enough sleep. Sometimes it's hard to kick your boyfriend out of the apartment since even if it's after midnight you just do not want to hurt his feelings by saying that a good night sleep is important to you that his company. For happy parents, the time after nine is actually the only time they can have to themselves and it's just impossible to switch off the favorite TV show. But try to make it quality time and owe it to something much more significant – sleep. It's not entirely clear how many hours of sleep a human being requires but anyone can feel that failing to sleep for at least 7 hours per night results in anxiety, depression and sick skin color.

The first thing you should take care of in the morning is a healthy breakfast. Healthy does not necessarily mean you have to stuff yourself with sour veggies and nothing else. The first meal must charge you with enough energy to support your brain activity through the day so do not be stingy on calories and enjoy your peanut butter sandwich – after all, it's a much better idea than to eat it at midnight in front of the TV right before going to bed.

It's also really important to stay hydrated at all times. Our bodies are almost 70% water, so it's self-evident that maintaining the right level of it enhances the functioning of any living organism, including us, women. So make sure you constantly replenish the water levels in your body by consuming about eight eight-ounce glasses of water or any other liquids every day.

And the last, but not the least tip – exercise! Technological advancement has done everything possible to turn us into literally sedentary species, and, sorry, you have to fight it! Even if it's unlikely for you to find time to do sports regularly, be creative – walk as much as possible. It's even a better idea to substitute your traditional way to relax (movies, eating out, and house parties) with workouts. It's a myth that they take up too much of your time. In fact, a 30-minute workout will relax you much better than a 2-hour movie, and you can only believe it of you try it.

This is an example of a basic workout which can be done at home and is a perfect way not only to relax after work, but also to get fit pretty soon:
o Warm-up on a treadmill, exercise bike or with a jumping rope for 10 minutes
o Do 2 sets of 20 sit ups
o Do 3 sets of 10 push ups
o Do 3 sets of 1 minute wall sets
o D 50 right leg lifts
o Do 50 left leg lifts
o Do 2 sets of 25 squats
o Do 50 jumping jacks
o Stretch for 5 minutes
