PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) Weight Loss Diet

Common symptoms of PCOS include male-pattern hair growth over the entire body, baldness of the scalp, irregular menstruation, and fertility problems. Can a PCOS diet be used to minimize the symptoms of PCOS and the same time, cut unwanted body fat? The answer is yes, the PCOS diet can be used as an effective weight loss diet, and here's the reasons why:

1. Fruits and vegetables rule. The PCOS diet eliminates processed foods and other unhealthy food items from a person's daily meals. Cheat meals are generally not encouraged and, instead, PCOS patients are advised to find healthier alternatives to satisfies their cravings. Fruits and vegetables are important for PCOS patients because these natural, whole foods help restore hormonal balance in the body. Balancing the hormones is a tough task, but with the right diet and continuous treatment, PCOS patients experience great improvements in their symptoms in a matter of weeks.

2. Cutting out the sugar culprit. Refined sugars are also not allowed in a PCOS diet. PCOS patients tend to develop insulin resistance and this condition may lead to full blown type 2 diabetes or adult onset diabetes. As you can see, PCOS affects a person's metabolism and, if it is not properly evaluated, it can also affect a person's cardiovascular health.

3. Sensible eating is coupled with regular exercise. A PCOS diet will not be as effective if the patient does not exert effort in getting a sufficient amount of physical activity every day. In order to stay healthy, a PCOS patient is also advised to play sports or go to the gym. The minimum required time for rigid physical activity is twenty to thirty minutes a day. A person engaged cycling will get the same heart-healthy benefits as someone who is engaged in wall climbing. It does not matter what type of physical activity you choose, as long as you do it regularly, and you are consistent with your efforts.

4. Carbohydrates are reduced. Too many carbohydrates in a person's diet can lead to the increased deposition of fat in the body. More body fat means your weight will be in danger of increasing an uncontrollable manner. What's interesting is that, when the body begins recovering from being overweight, the effort of losing weight becomes much easier, and will feel more natural as time goes by. This is the body's way of rewarding a person's efforts to be healthier and fitter.

5. Going organic. As much as possible, PCOS patients are also advised to reach for certified organic produce whenever possible. This is done to reduce the patient's exposure to preservatives and other unnatural ingredients that are commonly found in food products that are not organically produced. Food preservatives can negatively affect a person's natural hormonal balance, so PCOS patients have to invest in better food if they want to manage their condition well.

Caring for Nicks and Cuts

If you have used a cartridge razor before, you probably have gotten a few nicks and cuts either from shaving too quickly or because you dug too deep when you were gliding the razor across your face. This is a very common injury especially if you are inexperienced but caring for your injury can determine whether you get a scar from it or it treating properly. If you want to avoid this painful experience alike, you can either apply shaving cream which will make the shaving more pleasant or use an electric shaver.

Cuts from a razor occurs when the blade of your razor is too blunt to smoothly glide across your face or when when you apply too much pressure and the blades get direct contact with your skin to leave a laceration. These cuts can range from a minor cut to even a deep cut if you are not careful. Because your facial hair can breed bacteria and germs, it is important to tend to these cuts to prevent infection which can increase the risk of a scar forming. Scars normally form when the dermis which is the deep layer of skin is damaged and your body forms new strands of fibers to fix that damage results in a scar. That is why the scar will have a different texture or even a raised bump from the surrounding tissue.

Preventing this is extremely easy if you take immediate action when the cut occurs and following these steps will ensure that you recover quickly without any permanent damage. There are shallow cuts and deep cuts and I will be covering the different steps to care for it.

Shallow cuts
Shallow cuts are easier to deal with because the opening of the wound is not fully exposed. Firstly rinse the wound with running water (cold water). The cold water helps to contract the skin and also helps to wash away any remaining hair particles. Add some light facial soap (preferably antiseptic soap) to clean the wound and the surrounding area. This helps to prevent infections and ensure that the wound is clean for application of bandages.

Get a bandage and ensure that the surface is dry before application. Stretch the skin out to ensure that there is a tight fit. The bandage helps to repel any dirt and germs entering your wound and infecting it. After a few days if it has not fully healed, it should have formed a scab and it is now safe to remove that bandage. A common habit that most people have is to peel the scab but that is the number 1 cause of scars. Leave the scab as it is a form of protection for your wound and leave it to drop on it's own.

Deep cuts
Deep cuts are more difficult to handle because most of time your skin will not be able to heal itself because of the large opening. Most large cuts will result in a scar but you can reduce the risk of it by following these steps. If the cut is really large and there is a clear split in the tissue. You may have to get stitches (100% scar). However, if you deduce that it is not that huge, use a sterilized bandage or use your fingers first to close the opening. this will help to either stop or reduce the bleeding by quite a bit. Hopefully by about 15 minutes the platelets and clotting activators which are released will stop the bleeding. If not, you will probably have to get to the clinic to get some patching or stitches to close the wound. But if it has stopped bleeding, leave it for another 20-30 minutes for the bond to be stronger.

After 20-30 minutes, remove the bandage carefully and wash the area with antiseptic soap and water and replace the bandage with a clean one. for the first few days, try to minimize facial movements to reduce pressure on the area and check and clean your wound daily to remove any perspiration build up. To speed up your recovery, use some scar gels to increase the rate of recovery as well and like shallow cuts, DO NOT remove the scab before it starts to fall off.

Common Shaving Problems With Men

With a plethora of razor varieties available for sale today, face shaving is no longer a boring task for guys. Men find shaving task so much safer as well because you have numerous types of shaving cream, gels and lotions on the market today. Men frequently are afflicted by a few common shaving associated issues. Here are some of them, and its treatment advice.

Cuts on the skin layers is one among the most typical shaving issues and this is mainly due due to outstanding shaving methods. Cuts may bleed for a couple of minutes. To stop the blood loss from cuts, you simply need to apply pressure on it. This will help to clog the blood vessels and quickens the process of clotting.

Another easy approach to stop bleeding of cuts would be to brush a piece of ice cube over it. This helps to contract the blood vessels and holds up blood flow. Petroleum jelly may also be helpful to reduce the bleeding of cuts. Deodorants made up of aluminum chloride could help in treating cuts and nicks.

Too close shaving is one among the major causes for the problem of ingrown hairs. Whilst ingrown hairs are usually minor irritations, they can be painful, unsightly and if there is a skin infection, it can also cause scars.

Ingrown hairs normally crop up on men's faces and on other parts of the body with sensitive and curly hair such as the genital area. It is prevalent in individuals with African descent due to their curly hair and is induced by shaving too close to the skin. The curly hair will grow back inwards into the skin layers and the hair follicle could get infected on account of this.

Exposing the facial skin to steam or applying warm moist hand towel over the infected skin is a good method to release the ingrown hair. This treatment aids to open the pores. Sometimes the ingrown hair stays stubborn and in these cases you might have to use a tweezer or sterile needle to free the hair from the skin layers.

Removing or plucking ingrown hair by yourself is not recommended. That job is better performed by a skin specialist. To avoid the problem of ingrown hair, you should exfoliate your skin layer often and apply skin creams containing salicylic acid.

Ingrown hair discomforts could be conveniently treated with the help of skin lotions containing salicylic acid, hydrocortisone or witch hazel. But if the condition continues, it is better to check with your medical professional for advice.

Skin discomfort due to razor burns is one more common shaving problem. This may be prompted due to various reasons like too close shaving, making use of blunt razors, shaving on dry skin, employing quick and harsh stokes etc.

Men that have sensitive skin are more susceptible to such razor burns. Usually the skin soreness associated with razor burns disappear within a few hours. But in serious cases, it may last for a couple of days.

Severe cases of razor burns may lead to razor bumps. Applying aloe Vera, ice or cold water or skin creams containing salicylic acid or glycolic acid aids in treating razor bumps.Allowing the hair to grow out and not shaving for a few days is the best treatment for razor burns.

Shaving sometimes cause inflammatory reaction of one or more hair follicles and this can cause a condition called Barber's rash. This condition can occur in any body part. Shaving areas which is prior to zits and pustules could have been the cause of such skin rash problem. Sometimes crushing could be noticed on the affected areas. This problem must be treated immediately. Not leaving the infected part for a couple of days can help a lot. Dermatologists may suggest the application of topical antibiotic skin creams for the treating such skin breakouts.

Poison Ivy Treatment and Home Remedies

Now that the days are getting warmer and longer, we start to spend more time outdoors. Not only do we have to be careful with the sun's dangerous radiation, but we also need to know that there are poisonous plants that will give us a hard time. One of these poisonous plants I am going to talk about today is poison ivy. Poison ivy may have a safer look, but when you accidently touch it, you will experience dermatitis, or simply put an ivy itch and rash. This is an unpleasant condition, but in fact it does not pose a threat to our lives.

The best thing to do is to learn to recognize poison ivy in order to avoid the rash that appears from direct contact with it. Remember this rhyme and you might be safe – “Leaves of three, let them be”. If you fail to identify it because there's a thick vegetation, do not worry because there are different treatments for this ailment.

The symptoms you get after being exposed to are related to your sensitivity and the severity of exposure. The most characteristic symptom is a rash, but some people may have other more serious symptoms. The rash will not appear immediately after you were in contact, but it will start two or three days after that. You will get red, itchy blisters or bumps. In some cases, people have had problems with the airways, eyes and lungs.

The best treatment is prevention. But if you were already in direct contact with the plant, you should wash the area with soap and water, it should be done immediately after exposure though. There are some products that will help you ease the rash, those products are Zanfel, Ivy Cleanse Towelettes and Tecnu Extreme Poison Ivy Scrub.

If you want to try some natural options, here are some homemade remedies that will help you cope with the rash:

– Banana peel: you should rub the inside of a banana peel on the rash. It is believed to provide instant relief.

– Aloe Vera gel: aloe vera is useful in healing small cuts and gives relief to sunburns, just apply the gel to the rash.

– Dishwashing liquid: the anti-grease components in the dishwashing liquid make it the perfect remedy for poison ivy.

These home remedies would help you get rid of pain and provide instant relief as part of poison ivy treatment.

Signs Your Caregiver Is Too Risky for You or Your Loved One

Finding a reliable and professional caregiver can be quite cumbersome. You need to know that the individual is responsible and is an experienced professional. However, that's not always the case. In order to make sure that you or your loved one is getting all the pampering and care they need, it is imperative to do all the necessary research before hiring a caregiver. According to a study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, many home-care agencies hire random caregivers that respond to Craigslist postings without checking for their credentials, competency or experience. Following are a few signs that should warn you that your caregiver is too risky for you and your loved ones:

1. The Agency is Not Licensed

If the agency that you have hired your caregiver from is not licensed then that's a red flag that needs to be immediately washed off. Only 55 percent of agencies do a federal background check and only one-third do drug testing. Without proper credentials, you would not have any way of knowing that your caregiver is qualified enough to take care of your loved one. Be sure you go through a well-known agency when hiring caregivers, particularly for in-home services. Also ask about the recruiting methods that use to hire professionals.

2. Caregiver Stealing from You

Lost heirlooms, money missing from your wallet or electronic gadgets gone missing are all very common occurrences with people who have hired professionals for in-home care. Be sure to check the receipts for groceries to see if they add up. It is best to avoid giving cash to the caregiver and do most transactions using debit gift cards that are preloaded with a limited balance. Doing so would limit the amount of liability you or your loved one is exposed to. However, if your valuable items keep on going missing, then it is just about time to say goodbye to the caregiver. Be sure to report to the agency so that they can take proper measures so as to prevent the same happening to someone else.

3. Lack of Cleanliness

If the house is un-kept with unsanitary living conditions, laundry is piling up or if your loved one is not properly taken care of then it just indicates that the caregiver has poor housekeeping habits. Poor personal hygiene of the senior like un-trimmed nails, unkempt hair, body odor, dirty clothing and / or smell of urine or feces are all indicators of poor care.

4. Bruises, Sores or Wounds

Look for any bruises, scratches, etc. on your loved ones. More often than not, caregivers would not let family visitors to be left alone or would always report that there are no health problems and no medical care is required. These could be signs that the caregiver is either neglecting, mistreating or even abusing the senior. Dehydration, malnutrition and pressure sores due to confining the senior to chair or bed for extended periods also indicate lack of proper care.

If your loved one looks more withdrawn, depressed or weak then it just shows that his / her needs are not properly taken care of. Primarily, make sure that you hire professional, experienced and competent caregivers; and then do routine checksups to ensure that your loved one is getting the care he / she needs and describes.

Dementia – What Is It?

Dementia
Caring for a loved one who sucks from dementia is heartbreaking and can be a challenging prospect for nursing homes as well. The progressive brain disorder makes it difficult for those who suffer from it to recall things, communicate their intentions, think clearly or even take care of their own selves.

What Causes It?
The primary cause of dementia is brain damage. Some of its most common neurodegenerative forms include Alzheimer's diseases, dementia with Lewy bodies and frontotemporal dementia. The brain cells of the patients who suffer from any of these diseases die faster than is typical for the normal aging process. This ever leads to a breakdown of a patient's mental and physical faculties.

Dementia Symptoms
Contrary to popular belief, the brain disorder does not signify a specific disease. Rather, it specifics a wide variety of symptoms. These symptoms can vary greatly. However, the following must be severely impaired in order for a decisive diagnosis –

* Language and communication

* Memory

* Visual perception

* Judgment and reasoning

* Ability to pay attention and focus

* Withdrawal and apathy

* Personality changes

* Inability to perform everyday tasks

For example, a person who suffers from dementia may keep misplacing certain items like car keys or a wallet or forget where he or she put them. The patient may also have trouble keeping track of appointments, paying bills on time or planning anything.

Alzheimer's Disease
The brain of a person who suffers from Alzheimer's shrinks due to a loss of brain cells. Also known as atrophy, the condition affects the cerebral cortex or the gray matter that is responsible for facilitating most of the brain's functions. As a result, a person who suffers from the condition may have trouble recalling or storing thoughts.

Frontotemporal Dementia
This particular type of dementia is commonly found in patients who are below the age of 65. Frontotemporal dementia, as the name implies, is caused by brain damage and shrinking in the frontal and temporal lobes. While there is no specific cause attached to the disorder, it is believed that over 20% of patients acquire it through genetic mutation.

Dementia with Lewy Bodies
Lewy bodies are clumps of circular protein that accumulate in brain cells and cause dementia. While dementia symptoms that are caused by Lewy bodies do not point to a cause, the general consensus is that the protein lumps interfer with the two chemicals that are responsible for relaying information from one brain cell to the other; acetylcholine and dopamine.

Less common causes of dementia can also include depression, brain tumors, brain infections that can be related to HIV, head injuries, thyroid hormone deficiency, Huntington's disease, alcohol abuse and Vitamin B deficiency.

Who Gets It?
While it is true that older people have more chances of suffering from the condition, it is important to remember that it can occur in people who are younger than 65. Dementia patients also range in their 40s and 50s.

Non-surgical procedures are gaining much popularity among the obese population. The reason behind the popularity is that there is no need to face the knife or suffer any pain that follows soon after the procedure. When diet and exercise alone is not working for a few who wish to lose the stubborn weight, non-invasive procedures that work by dissolving the fat is a good option. During this non-invasive method of body contouring, various types of energy are applied to the body that works on the fat while helping the skin flaunt a toned look, by tightening it. This helps the people to stay slim through effective weight loss management.

Various types of non-invasive body contouring methods

Also known as Cool Sculpting, this non-invasive body contouring procedure reduces the fat that is present in various parts of the human body. During this process of Cool Sculpting, it freezes the fat cells in the body through a controlled cooling procedure and removes the cells effectively. As this method employs the natural metabolic processes of the human body to remove the fat cells, one can notice the difference from two months to four months period, after this treatment.

Laser Liposuction

This laser treatment targets the areas with stubborn fat and contours the body to enhance the overall appearance of the patient. In addition, this treatment is ideal to treat the fat in different parts of the body, such as the abdomen, bra line, upper back, arms, thighs (both inner and outer), knees, waist, under the chin and hips. Consequently, the patients would have the additional benefit of tight skin, instead of the sagging skin, which is the result while losing excess body fat. This session of laser Liposuction leaves the skin smooth and keeps it free from unsightly cellulites. Furthermore, the eliminated fat cells will not accumulate and hence one can retain their figure easily.

Non-invasive liposuction with radio frequency

This is an FDA cleared treatment that clears unwanted fat in the body. It utilizes ultrasound energy to eliminate the fat cells in various parts of the body such as thighs, belly, etc. Therefore, the patients can experience better results within a period ranging from eight weeks to twelve weeks. Some patients would also lose a dress size in an hour's time of this treatment. This method of liposuction damages the fat cells in a permanent way within a single session.

For those who are on the lookout of a proper non-invasive weight loss management treatment, these body contouring methods would be a better choice.

How to Reduce Bedsores With Sheepskin Rugs

Bed sores are a common problem for immobile patients, and when a patient can not shift their position when led or sat in the same position for a long period of time, this is when bed sores become a problem.

Areas less padded by fat and muscles, and more bony in nature are likely to be susceptible to bedsores. Parts of the body including: hips, tailbone & heels.

Sheepskin rugs' natural properties help alleviate the pressure on these problem areas while working as the perfect temperature & perspiration regulator, reducing moisture and friction at the same time.

Pressure Reduction: wool fibers Do a great job of redistributing pressure. Standard sheepskin rugs work well for this, though medical sheepskin rugs will work even better as they are a denser material. Each fiber works as a mini spring & when they are multiplied together they work very efficiently.

Temperature and Perspiration Regulator: Temperature affects at the skin are important. Humans when resting eliminate twenty five percent of their basal metabolic rate through the skin. A five percent increase in body temperature can create a thirty five percent increase in metabolic stress, meaning available nutrients to the body are used up. Also as body temperature increases sweating increases. Air zones in wool fibers insulates against the cold while allowing air to circulate when hot. Wool's ability to wick moisture assures the body's natural cooling mechanism of sweating.

Moisture reduction: Moisture build up on and near the skin can lead to maceration of the skin at the surface. This can affect the properties of the skin. Wool is hydrophilic, meaning it wicks away (takes up) moisture from the skin. You will find wool can hold up to a third of its weight as water before feeling wet. A remarkable natural property of wool. It's this property which protects against maceration and will lead to greater comfort.

Friction Reduction: Wool has the great quality of collapsing sideways when shifted. Wool also has a very smooth outer layer. Both these qualities mean friction when moving is disappeared and movement can be made with less resistance. Fur pile will naturally sit to one direction, so resistance will vary depending on whether you are moving “with the grain” or “against the grain”

With all this in mind sheepskin rugs are the perfect remedy for bedsores and for general comfort for immobile patients due to many natural qualities of wool and sheepskin rugs.

Why Do People Get Constipation?

Very few people feel comfortable talking about certain health issues, like constipation. They may feel it is a private and personal issue that should not be discussed with others. Ironically, almost everyone has faced this problem at one time in their lives but are still embarrassed and shy to talk about it. Constipation can be painful and frustrating and it will be very beneficial if we know how to prevent it.

What is constipation?

Some people believe that constipation occurs when one can not have at least one bowel movement everyday. This, however, is not true. You have constipation when your own bowel movements become less frequent and more difficult to pass. You may also feel bloated and experience pain in your abdomen area. There are many reasons for getting constipation.

Common causes of constipation

It is commonly known that not eating enough fibrous food or drinking sufficient water can cause constipation. This is because fiber promotes bowel movements and drinking sufficient water will prevent dehydration and reduce the absorption of water from the stools. There are many types of delicious food rich in fiber such wholemeal spaghetti and pasta, wholegrain breakfast cereals and fruits and vegetables.

People who are physically inactive tend to have higher risk of constipation. We can aim to exercise regularly or try to be as active as possible as this will increase our metabolism and help prevent constipation and have a more healthy lifestyle.

Sometimes, to have a quick fix, we may buy over-the-counter laxatives to help ease our bowel movements. However, by doing this consistently, we create a habit for our body to rely on the laxatives to treat ourselves. This will make the problem worse and increase the risk of getting constipation in the future. Additionally, other medications prescribed for other health issues may have side effects that may cause constipation as well.

Another main culprit of constipation is not going to the toilet when we feel the urge to do so. Many of us are guilty of this especially when we are out in public or at work or school. We tend to try to hold on until we are home. However, this is bad for our bodies as the longer we delay going to the toilet, the harder it will become for us to do so.

When we change our daily routines, like when we travel, it will affect our bowel movements as well. Traveling may lead to us eating at different times and having different types of food. We also sleep at different times, especially in countries with a big time difference. This will affect when we use the toilet and increase the risk of constipation.

Who is more likely to have constipation?

Constipation can happen to anyone and it probably affects almost everyone through their lifetime. However, it affects children, women and the elderly more than anyone else. Children and the elderly are more likely to eat less fibrous food and drink less water. The elderly also exercise much less. Women are more likely to have constipation due to pregnancy where there are hormonal changes and the uterus tends to compress the intestine.

Prevention is better than cure!

There are so many ways that constipation is caused. While constipation can be easily preverted through small steps taken in our everyday lives, it is not easy to treat and it is often painful to suffer from it. Little changes we make in our diets and routines can go a long way to help our health.

Why You Should Learn About Care Planning

Why You Should Learn About Care Planning

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, at least 70% of people over the age of 65 will require some long term care services at some point in their lives. , Adult Day Care, Assisted Living Care, or Nursing Home Care.

You are at risk of losing your life savings if you do not properly prepare your estate before you or a loved one falls ill. The average annual nursing home cost in the US is $ 77,745 per person per year, and the average nursing home stay in the US is 30 months. ** Do the math, and the cost per person over that time period would average $ 194,363!

I can not afford that. And, if you are like me, you probably do not want to be a financial burden on your family as you age. In fact, you may be more worried about being a financial burden than dying.

The 2012 survey conducted by Genworth Financial showed that death was of least concern (10%). More worrisome were fears of living in a nursing home (25%), and depleting life savings (12%). The same survey also showed that nearly 90% of retirees have not discussed their long term care issues with their spouse or children.

Remember, you only have three care planning options should you find yourself in a situation where you can not physically or mentally take care of yourself.

One is Home Healthcare , where a companion will prepare and serve meals, shop for the food, do the housekeeping that will be necessary, handle all the business affairs, pay the bills, and provide entertainment for you. He or she can hire a home health care agency to help with most of these chores. This agency will also administer injections or therapy, change dressings, and monitor your vital signs, as needed.

Care Planning Option number 2 is moving into an Assisted Living Community. Assisted living is often viewed as a bridge between homebound care and skilled nursing care.

Residents live independently, but have access to service professionals on an as-needed basis. These communities are designed to provide residents with assistance with basic needs, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, and administering medicines.

A primary advantage of living in an assisted living community is the social environment and interaction with other residents and with the staff.

The third Option , of course, is moving into a nursing home. This would be for patients who require care at a much higher level, and if needed, care around the clock. Staff would include skilled nurses 24 hours per day, as well as diagnostic services like lab tests, xrays, and EKG readings.

Some nursing homes will also provide special wings for memory care patients who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's. Mental capacity provides unique challenges beyond just physical disease and whenever possible it is best for the patient to be grouped with other patients who may have similar conditions.

Facing the realities of long term care is often hard to do, but “Care Planning”, as I call it, is extremely important and relevant to our lives. We all need to learn more about it!

24-Hour Personal Health Care Is Ideal After a Hospital Stay

When a person is allowed to go home after being in a hospital environment for a long time, it's common for that individual to feel a sense of relief mixed with a bit of fear. Members of the person's family also often share those emotions. They may be wondering whether or not the individual who has just been discharged will be able to manage a lifestyle that does not include the constant supervision of doctors and nurses.

Fortunately, 24-hour personal health care is a great solution for a person who is ready to adjust back to life at home, but can not do so without a helping hand.

24-Hour Personal Health Care Offers Consistency

One of the advantages of this approach is it offers a person who is recovering access to a reliable source of assistance, whether it is physical, mental, or emotional support that's needed. On the contrary, if a person's family members decide to try and split the duties of care among themselves, that often leads to inconsistent results. Even if the people involved have the best of intentions, that does not change the fact that they also have their own responsibilities to handle, and realistically may not be available around the clock.

Peace of Mind for Everyone

There are many companies that offer caregiver services during the daytime hours. Although those are helpful to a degree, they can also cause a client and his or her family members to undergo a great deal of stress. That's simply because everyone is concerned about what might happen if an emergency occurs during outside the specific time of day when care is provided.

24-hour personal health care allows a client and his or her loved ones to rest assured that no matter what, comprehensive and compassionate help will always be available. That's especially beneficial if someone who is just beginning to transition from a hospital stay does not have any relatives living nearby. Often in that situation, the distant relatives feel guilty knowing there is only so much they can do from afar. Hiring a professional caregiver who stays nearby through the day and night should alleviate anxiety for both the client and his or her loved ones.

24-Hour Personal Health Care Creates a Bridge to Independence

Although it is not realistic to expect a recently discharged person to immediately be able to resume an independent lifestyle, steps should be taken so the individual can gradually get back to a way of life that promotes independence as much as possible. That allows a client to feel dignified, but it's important to have a caregiver around to supervise that transition.

Otherwise, a person may try to do things without help before he or she is really ready. The caregiver can give encouragement for eventually doing things without assistance, but also make sure the client does not push him or herself too hard and possibly end up dealing with a recurrence of the same incident that actually required a hospital stay.

Now that you know a few of the reasons why 24-hour personal health care is a practical option for many clients and their family members, it may be easier to decide it would be helpful in a situation you are facing, as well.
